Slgrandson (talk contribs) - Today, the 23rd of August, marks my 18th month of editing on Wikipedia. I must be doing good progress here and would love to see how well I'm really doing.

Although my specialties deal with performing arts (mostly [animated] film and TV, with some music added in) and, of course, the Caribbean, I've dealt with a lot more than that through my RC and new page patrol. Clearly, my participation in the Welcoming Committee shows how well I've been dealing with users and IPs of all kinds. And, most importantly, I've visited every major area of the WP namespace--from submitting articles at PR and FAC, to reporting a MascotGuy wanna-be at ANI.

I am a member of a WikiProject that has yet to shape up. Also, I joined Esperanza some two months ago.

I must be doing great service to the WP community as a whole. Otherwise, tell me where I am lacking in my broad experience. --Slgr@ndson (page - messages - contribs) 13:21, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

Reviews

  • Insofar as this is a review, I have to say that your contributions thus far have been absolutely excellent. Looking through your stats I can find little to suggest, and your last 500 contributions have all been useful and exemplary. The only thing I can think of (and I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel, here) is that you may wish to contribute more major additions to the article space: I'm guessing from your great emphasis on maintenance and smaller changes (and your proportionally low Talk edits) that you probably don't spend much of your time making major contributions to articles, which may be something for you to spend some time on. Pick an article, try to get it up to FAC, rinse, lather, repeat. Beyond that, I can honestly think of nothing to suggest -- excellent work! RandyWang (chat/patch) 21:47, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
In my first year (2005), I used to call the articles on The Richleighs of Tantamount, The Family from One End Street and Minty Alley (all of them favourite books from my school years) my masterpieces. Then, later that year and early in 2006, I tried to submit the page on Care Bears Movie II: A New Generation as an FA, but sadly to no avail. And, before I arrived in the Bronx, I brought up that on its predecessor to GA status.
  1. I myself am impressed with how well I've transformed the article on the Canadian company, Nelvana, from its past ugly, listy state. Still, I've got a long way to go before I can put a featured star on this and several other topics. --Slgr@ndson (page - messages - contribs) 20:46, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
  1. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
The most serious scenario occurred this early June, just after I started editing in the States: it all started when an IP, 71.111.56.139 (talk contribs), attacked my page after I told him about an edit of his that I reverted in Petal. The same thing happened a short time after, when Jonmon6691 (talk contribs) messed it up only after I welcomed him.
  1. I wondered if that user registered under the aforementioned IP address, and told pgk (talk contribs count) about it. But when it came to that IP, as well as Jonmon and another user, Angry Gnome (talk contribs), editing each other's pages, I took all three accounts over to a sockpuppetry case, from whose inconclusiveness a CheckUser inquiry evolved. It turned out that none of them were related, with "no comment on the IP".
  1. When the madness finished, I kept a cool head and apologised to both the registered acocunts involved, telling them to make better contributions in future. From here, things have become a little better, and (despite a few run-ons with wrongful reverts and deletion tags, along with complaints I've received about warning other users thoughtlessly) I've truly tried to become a more civil participant in the community. --Slgr@ndson (page - messages - contribs) 20:46, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
