[edit] User:Covington

My name is Covington (talk contribs). I have been on Wikipedia for a month and a half.

And no, I don't intend to be an administrator. Not for a long time, at least.

See below for questions to and from my fellow editors. Please be honest and up front; that's the only way I will improve.

Reviews

  • I find the distinguished newcomer award given to Covington very good. Covington does a lot for both the community and encyclopaedia. Computerjoe's talk 15:41, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
  • You're a great editor, who I've met participating in Wikipedia: Community Justice and the Wikipedia Welcoming Comittee, among numerous other projects. However, I do suggest that you should work more on main space articles, as from I've seen, many of your edits seem to be from talk pages and WikiProjects.--TBC 06:50, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
  • You are very active in article maintenance (especially disambiguation link repair) and you are doing a good job helping the community. However, I have a suggestion - you should try doing research on topics you enjoy. Search the internet or visit a local library/bookstore and use the information in them to expand articles (remember to cite your sources.) I also noticed you are a member of WikiProject The Elder Scrolls. There are plenty of stubs relating to The Elder Scrolls that are only a few sentences long. Perhaps you could try expanding those a bit. Aside from this, you are doing a great job so far and when you have more than 3,000 edits, with a good 70% of them being in the article namespace, you might want to try running for administrator. Of course, it is up to you to decide if you want to be an admin, but it's a suggestion. --Evan Robidoux 01:09, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Questions to Covington (please add your own)

  1. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
My best work can be found on Community Justice and the Article Improvement Drive. I especially liked working at Community Justice because I believe civility is the backbone of Wikipedia, and I felt honored to be able to be of help to an organization during its early stages. Just recently, I was elected Counsillor, and I very excited to work with the new team to take Community Justice to new limits. I also maintain the Article Improvement Drive. I help maintain the page, fix up the templates, and make decisions about the future of AID. The AID is valuable to me because it lets those who are shy about editing an article by themselves (*hint*Covington*hint*) edit with the help of thirty other people.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
I haven't got into any major conflicts yet. I do admit, however, I have a hot temper. I prevent potential arguments from breaking out by 1) respecting others, 2) giving people the benefit of the doubt, and 3) wait half an hour before I respond to the person. And if all else fails, I walk away and do something else for a few days. One of the great aspects of Wikipedia is that when someone responds on my talk page, I don't have to answer her right away; I can walk away, think it over, and get back to her just as if nothing had happened.
