Arkyan (talk • contribs) Greets! As you can see I have been editing here on Wikipedia for quite some time, although it has been rather sparse and irregular. There have been many users with considerably less time here who have racked up a lot more edits! Anyway that is something I would like to address. I highly value Wikipedia and would like to help contribue more to it. So basically I'm just looking for two things. First, some unbiased comments on the quality of the contributions that I have made as well as any recommendations on how I can improve that, and second, suggestions on how I can increase my involvement with Wikipedia as a whole! I guess that's about it. Thanks. Arkyan 17:26, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

- Howdy, lurker. :) For your first question, I'd say that you appear to be doing well overall. I can't really suggest much, because the kind of things I'd say will come to you naturally with experience, but I'll give it a shot here... hmm. Generally, it's polite to replace inappropriate deletion tags with the appropriate ones (as in this case), rather than simply removing them - it's not mandatory, but it's a nice enough thing to do. If you do that, don't forget to mention that your re-nomination for deletion was not because you believe it should be deleted (if that's your opinion), but in order to follow proper process. That's all I can think of at the moment.
- Since you want to increase your involvement in Wikipedia, I can think of no better activities than the ones I suggest to practically everyone: joining an interesting WikiProject, weighing in on requests for adminship or recent change patrol. They're each great in their own way, depending on exactly what kind of work you're interested in - namely, contributing to interesting articles, !voting on Wikipedia's future administrators and fighting vandalism, respectively. Questions
- Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- In a general sense I am most proud of the contributions I made to numerous articles pertaining to both Mayan and Guarani mythology. I feel that both of these were underrepresented on Wikipedia and lacking in information, and that I was able to make a significant contribution to that overall. If I were to pick a specific article it would have to be Salt_River_Project, however. Since creation of the article it has generated several useful edits and even spawned a couple of related articles, both signs that it is a useful topic that people are reading, using, and further contributing to. - Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- For the most part I've not stepped on anyone's toes and I don't think anyone has stepped on mine. At worst there have been minor disagreements but they are easy to resolve when you take into account that Wikipedia relies on the contributions of many people and not just a few - you have to be willing to accept that you might not be right! Civil discussion about disagreements is what generates consensus and improvement. Arkyan 17:42, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
