Afonso_Silva (talk • contribs) I just want some feedback, in order to find any problems in my conduct and behaviour in Wikipedia. I've been around since December of 2004 and I have made about 5400 edits. I don't recall being uncivil (at least intentionally) and I have never been blocked. Right now, I don't want to be an admin. I think my major fault is not being a native speaker (I'm Portuguese), therefore, I lack a major skill that would make me a better contributor. Afonso Silva 14:32, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

  1. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
    Since I became an Wikipedian, I should have created about 300 articles. Of course the majority of them are stubs. You may check a list of the articles I created here (Although I don't update it since April). Of those hundreds of articles, I'm particularly pleased with the List of municipalities of Portugal, which took 2 months to finish and is now a featured list. Of the 308 municipalities in that list, I should have created, at least, a half. Along with that, I'm also the author of the articles about the Portuguese Communist Party and its History, the first is now considered a GA. I've also created about 20 articles about Portuguese elections - Template:Portuguese elections - almost every article in that template was created by myself. The article about João das Regras which was recently a DYK, Brigada Víctor Jara, Ecologist Party "The Greens", Avante! and Zeca Afonso are among my major contributions. I've also created articles about several Portuguese personalities. I'm the major maintainer of Portal:Portugal, which is now listed in WP:FPCAN. I've also uploaded more than 100 pictures and created several templates and categories. I am a member of the WC and since May, I regularly revert vandalism using CryptoDerk's Vandal Fighter.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
    As I usually edit articles about Portugal and there are few Portuguese editors around here, I don't engage in many conflicts. But in my early times in Wikipedia, I had a conflict with User:PedroPVZ about the nature of the previous political regime (before the Carnation Revolution). I considered it fascist-leaning, he, and other editor, considered it to be just "non-democratic" (in the most euphemistic way) and accused me of Communist bias. That caused me stress because I know lots of people who were imprisoned or tortured. Anyway, the records of such discussion are in the archives of Talk:Portugal. Since then, I don't recall of being engaged in other conflicts, just small discussions about moves, merges, deletions, you know, Wikipedia stuff. My lack of native level speaking often makes me use expressions or words that can have different meanings and cause conflicts. I once asked User:Flcelloguy if he had really read the article in a FAC and he thought I was saying that he opposed without reading it, while I was just amazed that he had really interest in the article.
