Edinburgh's Telford College, named after Thomas Telford, the great Scottish civil engineer, was established in 1968. The College is a corporate institution governed by a Board of Management whose members are representative of key industrial and commercial sectors, professional organisations and local government.

- continuing education and widening access enabling us to contribute to the social and economic change envisaged by Scottish Executive's lifelong learning strategy.
- training and education to primarily the North Edinburgh area, however, as the largest Further Education college in Edinburgh and the Lothians, we offer the broadest range of courses and significant regional and national specialisms.
- social and economic regeneration as well as a provision of quality education and training.
- fruitful partnerships with secondary schools, universities, employers and economic agencies, to ensure easy progression from school to college, further education to higher education, or education to employment.

- the College has a student population of over 15,000 accounting for 20,055 enrolments.
- full-time study accounts for 19% of enrolments
- part-time study accounts for 58% of enrolments
- open learning accounts for 23% of enrolments
- 18% of the College activity is higher education with 82% further education.

- full-time enrolments total 3,648 with the remaining 16,407 choosing short full-time, block release, part-time, evening & weekend, work based, or open learning as a study option.
- 40% of our students are in permanent or temporary employment
- more than 50% of our student population are aged 25 years or older.
- the student body consists of 53% female and 47% male.
- after gaining a qualification from the College, 91% of all students gain employment or progress to higher education.

Construction of a £70 million project north of West Granton Road in the world class Edinburgh Waterfront development, brought the existing four campuses on to a single site in the heart of the community of North Edinburgh. This flagship, purpose-built College will bring the latest developments in teaching and educational technology to the city. This will ensure the College provides highly trained and qualified students to meet the needs of labour market demands.
