Edgar Ramirez

Edgar Ramirez (March 25, 1977 in Caracas - ) is a Venezuelan who made his major motion picture debut playing Choco, Domino Harvey's boyfriend in the film Domino directed by Tony Scott.
His first recognization as an actor was the successful soap opera Cosita Rica, for Venevisión which aired in September 2003 to August 2004 lasting 270 episodes.
Ramirez has appeared in several international film productions. Among those are El Don (The Boss), directed by J.R. Novoa (Venezuela/Spain); La Hora Cero (The Magic Hour), a short film directed by Guillermo Arriaga, the acclaimed screenwriter of Amores Perros, 21 Grams and Babel (Mexico); Plan B, directed by Alejandro Garcia Wiederman (Venezuela); Yotama Se Va Volando (Yotama Flies Away), directed by Luis Armando Roche (Venezuela-France); Punto Y Raya (Step Forward), directed by Elia K. Schneider (Venezuela-Spain-Chile-Uruguay), a nominee for Oscar consideration for 2004 Best Foreign Film, in which he played Colombian soldier Pedro. This movie has been a huge international success with 14 prizes in various film festivals including Best Film in the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival 2004.
Ramirez grew up all over the world due to his father's job as a military attaché. He has made his home in such diverse countries as Austria, Canada, Colombia, Italy and Mexico and is fluent in German, English, French, Italian and Spanish as a result. Throughout his travels Ramirez developed a great love and ability for intercultural communication, a skill he parlayed into a degree in journalism. He specialized in political communications and initially intended on becoming a diplomat.
In 2000, before turning to acting full time, Ramirez was the executive director of Dale Al Voto (a Venezuelan NGO akin to Rock The Vote). In order to foster democratic values among young people, Ramirez and his team created cutting edge campaigns for radio, television and cinema.
In 2006 Ramirez participated in Elipsis, a Venezuelan film distributed by Twentieth Century Fox. He also embarked on his next major feature film Vantage Point directed by Pete Travis. In this high-budgeted Sony Pictures political thriller, Ramirez joined an all-star international ensemble cast including Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, William Hurt, Forrest Whitaker, Eduardo Noriega and Ayelet Zurer.
Upcoming is Cyrano Fernandez, with Ramirez in the title role. This enormous Venezuelan-Spanish co-production is directed by Alberto Arvelo and based on the French play Cyrano de Bergerac. The project aspires to be the Venezuelan response to such memorable Latin-American films as City of God and Amores Perros. Ramirez will appear in The Bourne Ultimatum as Paz, an antagonist of Jason Bourne.
