Edgar Osvaldo Barreto (born July 15, 1984) is a Paraguayan football player who, as of 2004, is playing for NEC Nijmegen in The Netherlands.
He was part of the silver medal-winning Paraguayan 2004 Olympic football team, who achieved a quarter-final place with two victories in the qualifying round, and, having finished second in the league, beat South Korea in the quarter-finals, and Iraq in the semi-finals, before losing to Argentina in the final. He alo capped for Paraguay u-20 at 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship. He is notorious for his bad sportmanship after his dive in a friendly game between Australia that saw Tim Cahill got a yellow card, despite angers from the Paraguayan bench toward Cahill a replay showed how Barreto play-acted and over emphasised a minor contact, booes from the crowd toward Barreto suggested how Latin American players' dive hurted the Australians after Fabio Grosso's dive during the World Cup 2006.
