Ed Toutant

Ed Toutant was a contestant on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in the United States in 2001.
Toutant appeared on the show during the time it gave away an accumulating jackpot to anyone who reached the top prize question and answered it correctly (which Kevin Olmstead eventually did after Toutant's original appearance on Millionaire). However, due to an error with one of his questions, Toutant was brought back onto the show and was allowed to compete for the $1.86 million (US) prize he would have won that night had the error not occurred. Toutant answered all the questions correctly, winning the money and placing him second all time behind Olmstead in total game show winnings (passing Twenty One contestant David Legler, who took home a prize of $1.765 million the year before).
Today, Toutant ranks fourth in all-time winnings behind Olmstead and Jeopardy! champions Ken Jennings (who won a total of $3,022,700 in his 74 match wins and the Ultimate Tournament of Champions in 2005) and Brad Rutter (who passed Jennings' previous record by winning the $2 million UToC and has over $3.2 million in total winnings).
