[edit] Description
Ed Bighead is an executive at the Conglom-O Corporation, the biggest company in town. He has worked at Conglom-O since at least 1962, according to one episode. He's a tough toad with a terrible temper. In fact, the only thing he's afraid of is his wife, Bev. As for everyone else, he is completely rude and inconsiderate. He particularly dislikes Rocko, Heffer and Filburt, as he once created a plan to destroy them (the plan was later used to destroy the "Wacky Deli" headquarters). His character is significant because he is indisputably the cruelest character in the series, and almost always plays a cruel role. He usually yells at anyone he sees, and grumbles bitterly under his breath at any situation he finds even slightly troubling. He does, however, occasionally soften up in the end.
[edit] Relationships
Ed is the husband of Bev Bighead, and Bev is the only character in the series that can turn Ed from mean to downright terrified. Bev has the strength to stand up to Ed, and this makes her quite a powerful figure. Indeed, she is probably the most powerful figure for Ed, because anyone else who Ed torments never does anything to stop it. Therefore, the other characters, particualary Rocko, are always under his control. He does not have many friends and is disliked by many, but appears to not be bothered by this. He is also mean to his own son, Ralph Bighead. Ralph created a show called "The Fatheads," which, according to Ed and Bev Bighead, made fun of their confrontational lifestyle. Ralph also became a cartoonist instead of following Ed's footsteps at Conglom-o, but Ed objected to this. He was furious and felt insulted, and claimed, "I have no son." This was the subject of one episode.
[edit] Episodes
Ed usually played the role of an antagonist, or the bully. In episodes that he starred in, he:
- Destroyed Rocko's valuable baseball
- Spread rumors around town to stop anyone from going to Rocko's Christmas Party
- Deprived Bev of the attention she deserves
- Been the antagonist in Rocko's pursuit of "recycling"
- Started a competition with Rocko to have the nicest yard for the sole purpose of having Rocko lose
- Refused to have contact with his son, Ralph Bighead
- Created a beach parking lot that was actually in front of his house
- Tortured Rocko while sleepwalking as a pirate
[edit] Catchphrase
Ed Bighead's catchphrase is, "I hate my life." He usually says this as a reaction to getting his comeupance, and may make him a misunderstood character who realizes how miserable he is.
