[edit] Plot
Teyla begins to see repeat visions of ancient-like beings on Atlantis. First she is assumed to be under stress - however, after a while, other people on board begins to see the same visions.
Meanwhile, McKay and Sheppard sees a sea creature dubbed "Sam" (after Samantha Carter) by McKay, similar to that which led Sheppard and Radek to rescue McKay in "Grace Under Pressure" and decides to take a Puddle Jumper to investigate underwater. During a close encounter with the sea creatures, Sheppard and McKay develop intense headaches and McKay falls unconcious.
In the infirmary, Zelenka explains that the sea creatures emit a low frequency pulse, as well as an e-m field - which, in combination, are very dangerous to humans.
"Beckett sees a medical crew operating on a badly burned man, but all of a sudden they are gone. Later Rodney is working on a filter for understanding what whales are saying. It turns out that they speak a known language."
McKay finds a biolab that translates the whales and they find out that the sun is about to send out a gigantic sun bolt straight to Atlantis which would wipe out all life on the planet, in order to save Atlantis as well as the planet, they send out the Daedalus with the ZPM to deflect the bolt straight off the sun.
[edit] Notes
- Three ZPMs were installed in Atlantis to power the stardrive during the Asuran invasion in "The Return", which were recovered by the expedition when they reclaimed the city. One ZPM is being used by Atlantis, while the other two are being used to power the Ancient outpost in Antarctica and the Odyssey (to combat the Ori), respectively.
- There are new areas of the city that can be explored due to the repairs completed by the Asurans, such as the lab discovered by Rodney.
- The name of the alien whale species in the ocean of Lantea is Flagisalis according to McKay.
