Echizen, Fukui (town)

Echizen (越前町; -chou) is a town located in Nyū District, Fukui, Japan.
On February 1, 2005 the nearby towns Asahi and Ota and the neighboring village Miyazaki merged with Echizen. As of this merger (but with 2003 population data), the town has an estimated population of 24,495 and a density of 160 persons per km². The total area is 152.90 km².
A city in Fukui with this name created when a city: Takefu and a town: Imadate (from Imadate District) merge on October 1, 2005, see Echizen, Fukui.
