Eastern Suburbs (now known as the Sydney Roosters) competed in their first New South Wales Rugby League season in 1908. They won 9 of their 11 games and finished runners up, being defeated by the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the Grand Final.

Defeated the South Sydney Rabbitohs in Round 3, 13-12. Both teams would meet up in the Grand Final later in the year, however it would be without both sides Australian representatives. Eastern Suburbs were able to prove to be the superior team when both teams were able to field full strength squads.
