East Shoreham is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 5,809 at the 2000 census.

East Coram is located in the northern part of the Town of Brookhaven.

East Shoreham is located on the northern shore of Long Island, by the Long Island Sound. East Shoreham doesn't have its own Post Office, both Shoreham and East Shoreham share a post office and zip code (11786) and no one calls it East Shoreham. It's all just Shoreham. Those is geographic Shoreham are acutually in Shoreham Village.

East Shoreham is located at 40°57′1″N, 72°53′7″W (40.950146, -72.885267)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 13.2 km² (5.1 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 5,809 people, 1,787 households, and 1,588 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 438.9/km² (1,137.1/mi²). There were 1,827 housing units at an average density of 138.0/km² (357.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 95.56% White, 1.21% African American, 0.12% Native American, 1.51% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.79% from other races, and 0.76% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.05% of the population.

There were 1,787 households out of which 48.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 78.6% were married couples living together, 7.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 11.1% were non-families. 9.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 3.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.20 and the average family size was 3.40.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 29.9% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 27.6% from 25 to 44, 28.0% from 45 to 64, and 7.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 100.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.9 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $85,916, and the median income for a family was $88,020. Males had a median income of $61,359 versus $35,536 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $29,485. About 3.4% of families and 4.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.3% of those under age 18 and 8.4% of those age 65 or over.
