East Runton is a small village in Norfolk, England situated close to the North Sea. It was once a traditional fishing village outside Cromer but is now a popular holiday destination for camping and caravan holidays. the village is within the parish of Runton that also includes West Runton. The village is 1.3 miles West from Cromer, 1.7 miles East of West Runton, 2.7 miles East of Sheringham and 21.7 miles North of Norwich (Direct). The village lies on the A 149 coast road but most of the dwellings can be found just south of the road, nestled around the village green. The population in the 2001 census was shown as 1,633 (Includes West Runton) in 784 Households. The parish area is 544 hectares. The village has two public houses, “The Fishing boat” and the “White Horse”,of which (The White Horse) is very dog friendly and serves award-winning real ales, a social club, and an assortment of shops. There is a Post Office/General store, Newsagent, Butcher, Café, Fish & Chip shop, although that is only open in the summer season. There is also a shop called “the Kit Bag”, selling army surplus and camping/out door stuff, which is well worth a visit.
