[edit] Overview
East Central is the largest of nine high schools in Tulsa Public Schools in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The school is home to 1,177 students from East Tulsa. The absence of windows from almost all classrooms creates a prison look. The school is affectionately referred to as just E.C. by students.
Two schools feed into East Central: Stephen Foster Middle School and Lewis & Clark Middle School (though some Lewis & Clark students go on to attend Will Rogers High School).
[edit] History
East Central was founded in 1927 as an independent school district. The district was later annexed by Tulsa Public Schools in 1962. The current school facility was built in 1967 with additions of East Wing in 1978 and Stadium in 1997.
[edit] Athletics
East Central competes in Oklahoma 5A football and 4A athletics for other sports. Sports teams compete as the East Central Fighting Cardinals. EC was 5A footbal champions in 2005
