User talk:Earle Martin

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Just a happy Birthday message to you, Earle Martin, from the Wikipedia Birthday Committee!!! Have a great day!

Many happy returns! Sergeant Snopake 18:40, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for fixing the templates, such as the one seen above. Those three templates are the only places anywhere where "committee" was spelled incorrectly, in reference to the Wikipedia Birthday Committee. (I'm a little surprised that no one's noticed that prior to yesterday.) Thanks again! Steveo2 11:14, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.

If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.

[edit] Jbolden

I began a page at Wikipedia:Requests_for_comment/Jbolden1517. I don't wish to go through with it if Jbolden chooses to leave me alone; we'll see what the next day or so brings. Pudge 23:25, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Um

"Closed" is what I put in the edit summary when closing an AfD, be it a keep or a delete. The reason I said "the result of the debate was 'closed'" was that it was late and I was tired.

Thanks for catching that for me. DS 22:01, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

No probs, I guessed it was something like that. Cheers -- Earle Martin [t/c] 23:49, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Test Wikipedia logo vote

Hi! Would you consider changing your vote to support C2 instead of D? It's not as in-your-face as the logo you supported about it being a Test Wikipedia, but it also makes it very obvious, while being designed more inobstrusively and elegantly -- replacing "Free" with "Test" in the phrase "The Free Encyclopedia", and in red, too, to make it more obvious. :)Nightstallion (?) 05:55, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Nope, sorry. -- Earle Martin [t/c] 06:14, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Okay, just checking. :)Nightstallion (?) 11:17, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Severn crossing etc.

WikiThanks

Just want to say thanks for merging/reorganising those articles. I meant to do it ages ago but never found the time to do it! I think you've broken the back of the task, so I might get round to making a few more minor changes later. JRawle (Talk) 14:21, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Good to see you here...

...surprised we haven't crossed paths before.

Top's also around, he's User:Tablizer. You might say hello to him. You might also add {{User C2}} to your page. --EngineerScotty 21:16, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

I added it as soon as I saw it on your page. :) Hurrah! I'll definitely say hi to Top. (This is like bumping into old college buddies in a foreign town years later, or something.) -- Earle Martin [t/c] 21:19, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] apology and my part of the story

Sorry for the mess. I have been trying to gather support for your RfA because I think WP needs admins just like you: fresh and unconventional and for all the good reasons you have given yourself. Jakew did, however, violate WP:NPA by unnecessarily and prominently mentioning my little sympathetic campaign and the fact that, yes, one of the users proclaims himself to be a Neonazi, and, yes, most of the others I urged (at gunpoint, I might add) have taken an (aggressive, radical) anti-circumcision stance (forced by me, at gunpoint). -- To keep it simple: A number of your RfA's opposers (among them badmins) are in mutual contact and agreement and at times make Wikipedia really suck, like right now. Your RfA is probably not going to make it because of this (supposedly) organized resistance. I am trying to be a bit careful, because some of those weirdos are apparently abusing their own time by checking on my contribs instead of having children or getting some other healthy physical exercise.

User:Haber should be different story: he recently personally attacked me on a talk page out of the blue, and when I posted on his talk page requesting an explanation, he told me to "go to hell". I actually don't know what got into him (because he never explained), but he seems to continue his childish behaviour.

Anyway. Sorry again and good luck and take care. Subversive 21:24, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

User:Jayjg permblocked me permanently with autoblock for reasons he gave on my talk page, thought you might like to know... the block evader formerly known as user:Subversive_element. 87.78.178.9 17:15, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Statistics?

These ones. Somebody seems to not like them and keeps removing them from the page. >Radiant< 13:06, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] template:Pinfo5

You might be interrested in this edit. Do you think this policy should be non-negociable. Myrtone () 09:41, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Template:HMM

Hey. I noticed you have added both {{HMM}} and Category:WikiProject Metal articles to a few talk pages. Adding the category is not necessary, as the template does the categorizing automatically. Also, I prodded pirate metal, as I don't think it is possible to improve it due to lack of both sources and notability. I'm just letting you know, since you notified about it on WP:HMM. Thanks, Prolog 14:28, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Kleptones

Hello! I was wondering if you were planning on writing an article about the Kleptones from the US (since you made the disambiguation page). --Lijnema 00:27, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi there. Yes, I'm hoping to in the next couple of days. Thanks for your interest. -- Earle Martin [t/c] 11:25, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Great. :) --Lijnema 16:48, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
