Early Honors Program
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The early honors program, or Lambda Sigma Eta, was what is now known as Phi Kappa Phi. It originated at the University of Maine in 1897. In the late 1950's, some larger high schools offered honors courses that were restricted to honors students who had high grade points. At the college-level, these courses were restricted to students who held high grade point averages coupled with high college entrance exam scores. These honors programs are more widespread now and with grade points higher than in the past, there are more honor students.
