Earl of Menteith
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The title Earl of Menteith was created twice in the Peerage of Scotland. The title is preceded by the roughly equivalent Mormaer of Menteith, and the early Mormaers are often referred to as Earls. The first earl is mentioned in a charter about 1164.
In 1258 the Earldom was first created for the Stewart family. The second creation was on 6 September 1427 for Malise Graham.
