Earl of Leitrim

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The title Earl of Leitrim (pronounced "Leetrim") was created in the Peerage of Ireland in 1795 for Robert Clements, 1st Viscount Leitrim. It became extinct upon the death of the 5th Earl in 1952.

The Earls of Leitrim bore the subsidiary titles Viscount Leitrim (1793) and Baron Leitrim, of Manor Hamilton in the County of Leitrim (1783), in the Peerage of Ireland. The 2nd Earl was also created Baron Clements, of Kilmacrenan in the County of Donegal, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom in 1831.

The heir apparent used the invented courtesy title Viscount Clements.
