Earl of Brentford
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The peerage title Earl of Brentford has been created twice in England. It was first created in 1644 for Patrick Ruthven, 1st Earl of Forth. The earl held the subsidiary titles Earl of Forth (1642) and Lord Ruthven of Ettrick (1639), both in the Peerage of Scotland. These titles became extinct on the death of the first earl in 1651.
The second creation was in 1689 for Frederick Schomberg, who was also created Duke of Schomberg. The earldom became extinct on the death of the third duke in 1719.
The title of Viscount Brentford was created in 1929, and remains extant.
