Earhart Expressway
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Earhart Expressway is a state highway located in both Jefferson Parish, Louisiana and Orleans Parish, Louisiana. It is also designated as Louisiana Highway 3139 or LA 3139. The highway is more commonly known as Earhart Boulevard. Although Earhart is labeled as an odd-numbered highway, it travels in a more east-to-west direction.
[edit] Route Description
Earhart Expressway travels 4.82 miles between LA 3154 in Jefferson Parish and Monroe Street in New Orleans. The highway begins from Dickory Avenue in River Ridge. In Jefferson Parish, Earhart resembles an interstate-like design with six total lanes along with exit ramps. Once it enters Orleans Parish, Earhart Expressway changes into Earhart Boulevard and becomes a divided, four lane street. Earhart Boulevard loses its highway designation at Monroe Ave., which is about 0.5 miles from the parish line. However, Earhart continues eastward towards Downtown until it intersects with South Claiborne Avenue, where it becomes Calliope Street.
