The image looks to date from the 1920s at the latest, but more probably from circa 1919-21. It is extremely unlikely to be still in copyright. Many of the images taken of Irish leaders in this period were taken by photographic studios and newspapers that have long since ceased to exist, with no known source of ownership. Such images are now mass reproduced for tourists without any copyright issues. So this image is unlikely to cause a problem. FearÉIREANN 15:11, 20 Jan 2005 (UTC)

The caption on this image in the Éamon de Valera article is "Éamon de Valera in the '30s". If this is accurate, then the image is still under copyright. (US copyright law protects all images made after 1922.) – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 21:39, Feb 9, 2005 (UTC)
It should read Éamon de Valera in HIS 30s (which BTW would place it sometime between 1912 and 1922.)FearÉIREANN\(talk) 29 June 2005 00:17 (UTC)
