E/R (referring to the Emergency Room of a Hospital) was an American television sitcom that aired in 1984 and 1985. The series lasted only a single season.
The show starred Elliott Gould as emergency room doctor Howard Sheinfeld. His colleague Eve Sheridan was played by Marcia Strassman in the pilot, and by Mary McDonnell in the regular series. The cast also included Conchata Ferrell, Jason Alexander, Lynne Moody, Bruce A. Young, and George Clooney (who became a star of the drama ER).
The show itself was perhaps most noted for having a theme song deemed catchy and for the Filipino-American secretary (played by Shuko Akune)'s manner of stating her catchphrase "Stay back of the white line!" It was Jason Alexander's first TV series.
Reruns were seen on a daily basis for a couple of years on Lifetime, not too long after being canceled by CBS.
