Dzogchen Monastery is one of the six great monasteries of the Nyingma tradition, the original Buddhist tradition in Tibet. It is located in Eastern Tibet in the Chinese province of Sichuan.

It is the main monastery for over three hundred branch monasteries in the Kham, Amdo and Central regions of Tibet. Since the early eighties the monastery has been undergoing reconstruction and it is currently home to around two hundred and fifty monks. About one kilometre from Dzogchen Monastery is the prestigious Buddhist University of Dzogchen Shira Sing. It is one of the main centres of learning in Tibet and enjoys a reputation for scholarly excellence. The university is famous in Tibet and world-wide for the standard of education it provides and students come from all over Tibet to study at Shira Sing University. Pema Tung, or the Lotus Ground, is a newly built retreat centre and temple complex situated deep in the Dzogchen valley. The centre is dedicated to the teaching and practice of the Dzogchen tradition and is a natural haven for peaceful reflection and meditation.
