I be 26 years old from Southern California and a graduated of UC Irvine in the OC. I briefly attended Columbia University but prefer the sunny beaches of Kalifornia. I have worked in the entertainment industry, notably with Playboy as part of their College Dvision On campus Program. I have also worked with Holywood publicists as well as high profile individuals. This account was created in February 2005 but I be contributer to Wiki since 2003.

[edit] Problems with Wikipedia

[edit] Wikipedia or "Google"pedia?

Everytime I go on on the Articles for Deletion section, the main argument for deletion is based on how many "google hits" there are. I'm a deletionist and am all for having useless articles deleted. but google is not the be all and end all of verifying notabilty. The overall problem with wiki is this site is verified by search engines and nothing more. There are for example many notable people in India who had articles on here but because they could not be verified via google, they were subsequently deleted.

[edit] Heavily pop culture skewed

I'm guilty of creating articles that relate to pop culture but I try to balance things out by creating and working on articles whose subject is of historical significance. What amazes me though is Wkipedia tends to become a place for fancruft. Many influential figures who have shaped society don't even have an article yet many fyctional characters and have categories devotud to them.

[edit] Misuse of admin privelages

The great majority of admins I've come across have been very helpful but I believe that admins should be held at higher standards than the normal user. There are some admins out there that if you don't agree with them you're implicitly told that you may be banned. It hasn't happened to me but I 've seen it usually in revert wars.

[edit] Copyright paranoia

If one section of an article is your standard copy and paste why is there the need to slap a copyvio tag on the article. Why not just take the time and rewrite? If the entire article was blatant copy vio, then go ahead but I find copyright paranoia EXTREMELY disruptive and usually done by those who would rather move on to another article and fix some minor grammar mistake than have the inclination to take the time and correct the issue at hand.

[edit] Areas of Interest

Subjects I'm interested in are Entertainment, Fraternities and Sororities, Baseball the Military, the Philippines, Filipino Americans and History in general. I try to expand stubs into articles and remove unncessary stub tags as well. Some people are too quick labeling a page a stub. There's only so much you can say about the subject of the page at hand.

[edit] In regards to Fraternity and Sorority Articles

I try and revert vandalism on any fraternity and sorority article because I think it's stupid and childish and believe me they are the most vandalized articles on wiki. People tend not to be civil on some edits in that they are "territorial" about the article because of the belief that an outsider doesn't know anything about the organization. I also believe it is is unnecessary for individual chapters to have their own article on wiki.

[edit] Vandalism

I used to think vandalism was funny but its just plain ridiculous and annoying. I don't subscribe to the Wiki philosophy of not biting the newbies and that certain changes on an article is a person's idea of "experimenting with Wiki". It's clear that many of the edits are blatant vandalism. I'm all for having a Wiki user registration sytem to help curb constant vandalism.
