Issue #37 of Dynamite from 1977, featuring baseball player Mark Fydrych, initiated the use of a secondary numbering system, and it was labelled Vol. 1, No. 1. That does not mean it was the first issue of Dynamite: thirty-six issues precede it.

The secondary numbering system continued until the mid-80s, with Issue #133.
