User:Dwain/Freemasonry Page
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This page is here in relation to Freemasons who edit Wikipedia. Some of this information was not allowed in articles relating to Freemasonry. I soon discovered that many Wikipedians are masons and do not want or will not allow any negative information about Freemasonry included in Wikipedia.
I am concerned that a distorted and inaccurate view of Freemasonry is being portrayed by this encyclopedia. Because of my concerns I began collecting information not found or not allowed in the current articles on Freemasonry and have put it here for possible future inclusion.

[edit] Quotes about Freemasonry
"Every masonic lodge is a temple of religion, and its teachings are instruction in religion." - Albert Pike Morals and Dogma, page 213
"Other secondary authorities include writings by the friends of Masonry, such as Henry Wilson Coil, Albert Mackey, and Albert Pike, all of whom declare that Freemasonry is a religion and that this religion is not Christianity." - John Salza
"The Methodist Church is set to become the first Protestant Church to reject Freemasonry, advising its members not to join Masonic lodges. When the Methodist Conference meets from June 28 to July 5 it will consider a recommendation from its Faith and Order Committee that "Methodists Should Not Become Freemasons."
"The committee says: "It is clear that Freemasonry may compete strongly with Christianity. There is a great danger that the Christian who becomes a Freemason will find himself compromising his Christian beliefs or his allegiance to Christ, perhaps without realizing what he is doing." - The London Daily Telegraph, June 17, 1985 issue
"It should be added that, as the Popes have always taken pains to point out, not all Masons are engaged in a conspiracy against the Church. In English-speaking countries most Masons, particularly those in the lower degrees, are members for business and social reasons; they think of Masonry as being no more than a philanthropic mutual benefit society. Such men are often practising Protestants, including many clerics, and they insist on the essentially-religious nature of Masonry. But Masonry is syncretic; it will not postulate one faith as having greater validity than another, which is equivalent to a denial of truth in any religion. Its Great Architect is no more than a symbol for the common consciousness of mankind working inexorably towards a condition of universal brotherhood under masonic control." - Michael Davies in Angelus November 1984, Volume VII, Number 11

[edit] Wiki-member Mason Example
Here is what one wiki-member says: "I am a very active Freemason, a member of both the York Rite and the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction, as well as the Order of Knight Masons, York Rite College, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Grotto, Scottish Rite Research Society and the Philalethes Society. I am also a Senior DeMolay.
Outside of my Masonic activities I am a student of the esoteric arts. I study Kabbalah, gnosticism, rosicrucianism, alchemy, and other mystic and arcane fields. This has greatly contributed to my worldview."
And people say that freemasonry is not occultic?
[edit] Masonic Oath Example
The Scottish Rite Third-Degree Master Mason oath (emphasis added)
This commits the oath-taker to commit murder, if necessary:
I do promise and swear upon the Holy Bible never to reveal where I have received this degree . . . and in failure of this I consent to have my body opened perpendicularly and to be exposed for eight hours in the open air, so that the venomous flies may eat my entrails, my head to be cut off and put on the highest pinnacle of the world, and I will always be ready to inflict the same punishment on those who shall disclose this degree and break this obligation. So may God help and maintain me. Amen.

[edit] Wikipedians who purport they are Masons
People must keep, the fact, in mind that Freemasons swear under oath to protect Freemasonry and keep everything secret such as the meanings of their symbols. This means that they will lie to protect Freemasonry. Since these people swear oaths not to divulge things to outsiders and since they will lie to protect Freemasonry anything a freemason writes at Wikipedia regarding Freemasonry should be suspect and very possibly incorrect and misleading.
Also, lower level masons are deliberately told the wrong meanings of symbols. The true meanings are not revealed until they have gotten to a substantially higher level. So even if these people break their oaths and reveal what they believe are the real meanings of things, they are most likely wrong as well.
