[edit] Origin and Reference from Texts

This Mantra is found in the text of Sri Vishnu Purana, in the context of Sri Dhruva Ji.

Dhruva asks the seven great saints (Sapta Rishis) about the appropriate means to worship Lord Vasudeva.

The saints tell him of this great Mantra, and they also tell that this Mantra was first used by Dhruva's grandfather, Svaayambhuv Manu to worship Lord Vasudeva. By satisfying Lord Vasudeva with this Mantra, Dhruv's Grandfather, Sri Svaayambhuv Ji attained his heart's desire, difficult to attain in this world, the position of a Manu.

By worshipping God with this Mantra, Dhruv Ji also attained his heart's desire, the most glorified position in this world, one that had never been attained by anyone. Lord Hari, granted Dhruva Ji, the fixed position that is above Surya (Sun), Chandra (Moon), Mangal, Budha, Brahsapati, Shukra, Shani (Saturn), etc. Planets, even the Sapta Rishis and all Vimaanchari Gods. Lord Hari also granted Dhruva, the life-time of a Kalpa (1000 four-fold Yugas), life greater than that of all Gods - some of whom live up to a Manavantar (Life of a Manu) and some live 1 four-fold yuga. In addition to that, Lord Hari, also granted Sri Dhruva that his mother, Suniti will also reside by his side on a plane, in form of a Star. And also that who ever praises and glorifies Sri Dhruva in the evenings or early mornings, will attain great Punya (good karma).

This is the glory of Sri Dhruva Ji and The great Mantra "Harinya Garbha Purusha Pradhana Avayakta Rupine, Om Namah Vasudevaye Shudha Gyan Svarupine" found in the text of Sri Vishnu Purana.
