Dustin Michael McGowan (Born on March 24, 1982 in Savannah, Georgia, United States) is a baseball player, currently a pitcher for Toronto Blue Jays. He made his major-league debut on July 30, 2005 against the Texas Rangers and received a no decision in an impressive performance.
McGowan is considered one of the cornerstone players of the Blue Jays for the future. While he is not expected to be a permanent part of the rotation for 2006, McGowan is considered "off-limits" as a potential trade.
After spending some time in the Jays bullpen in early 2006, he was sent to the minors on May 11 to work as a starter. Since returning to the big league club in July, however, he has only made one start and spent most of his time in the bullpen.
McGowan's hometown is sometimes listed more specifically as Ludowici, Georgia.
With the Blue Jays failing to sign free agent pitchers Gil Meche and Ted Lilly in the offseason, McGowan is expected to challenge for a rotation spot with the Blue Jays in 2007 along with Shaun Marcum, Casey Janssen, and Josh Towers.
McGowan is eligible to be claimed off waivers in 2007
