The Duryea Motor Wagon was the first standardized automobile and the first powered by gasoline. Fifteen Motor Wagons were built by the Duryea company of Springfield, Massachusetts, between 1893 and 1896. Before this time, all automobiles were one-off individual models, but it is not clear whether this vehicle, or the Benz Velo, was produced first in numbers. The Motor Wagon remained in production into the 1920s.
