[edit] Specialties
Known for its communal seating at very long tables and surly waitresses, it prides itself on its Chowders, Indian puddings, apple pan dowdy, johnny cake, and New England boiled dinners. [1]
[edit] History
While the origin of Durgin-Park goes back to Revolutionary days, John Durgin, in partnership with Eldridge Park, a livery man, and John G. Chandler, a dry goods merchant, took over some 130 years ago. The restaurant claims that is when they began their "claim to fame." [2] The Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau says it has been a "landmark since 1827." [3]
