[edit] Help with the PRT page
Are you Bob Dunning, of ATRA? If so, and if you are still active in Wikipedia, I wonder if you can come over to the PRT talk page and contribute as you see fit. I'm relatively new to PRT and I've learned a lot in the past few months, but there are still very large gaps in my knowledge. I'm interested in having a truly neutral repository on PRT history and technology, and while the page is fairly neutral today, I think there are important points that are not represented well in the article. For example, I am currently trying to address the capacity section, which does not currently reflect the fact that low-headway, high capacity PRT could achieve in the neighborhood of 10,000 passengers per hour max capacity on a single line, if 0.5 second headways were permitted. I've started a discussion on the talk page about headways and capacities, and an expert opinion might help, especially if you can provide verifiable references on any of these topics. I feel I am neutral enough to evaluate and present the material, but I'm finding it hard to locate verifiable material on these topics, so any help you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks. Oh, and if you are not Bob Dunning, well, then (in my best Emily Litella voice) nevermind. :-) A Transportation Enthusiast 02:14, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
It is a quandary for me. I do not intend to write a word in the PRT article so long as "unbiased" means not knowing anything about it. Bob 07:50, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- I am happy to see that you've broken your self-imposed moratorium on editing the PRT article. The more expert input, the better. I believe the article today is much better than it was 10 months ago when the war began, much of it due to the arrival of experts like JJLatWiki to counter the detractors. It's ironic that the article improved so much in response to a POV attack from you-know-who, but it's also a testament to the fact that the Wikipedia concept can work if we're all calm, patient, and persistent.
- I hope you continue to offer your expertise on the articles (including the ones on ULTra, Skytran, and Cabintaxi). Do not be dissuaded by those who accuse you of bias because of your position. As long as your content is good (verifiable and NPOV) then nobody can complain about your associations. ATren (formerly "A Transportation Enthusiast") 04:31, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Rhododendrons
Hi Dunning - see you've been doing some work on the rhody pages too; it is a genus I've long felt is woefully inadequately covered on wiki, and finally decided to get down to doing something on them today. I'm a bit hampered though by not having access to that Systematic Botany article by Goetsch, Eckert, & Hall - do you by any chance have a pdf copy of it? Also, do you think we should follow its taxonomic conclusions on wiki? It would mean re-working the subgenera; if done, the sooner it is done, the better, before it means editing more and more species pages as they gradually appear - thanks, MPF 22:00, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
I have put an inquiry in to Ben Hall to see if he can provide a copy of the paper for me. Bob 07:50, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] J. Edward Anderson
I took a whack at cleaning the article up. It's messy, but I relieved some of the false argument from authority presented in the external link section, which was filled with duplicate links, and I removed one ironic quote which was presented out of context. I hope you'll help at fixing the article. ThuranX 05:47, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. I will take a look at it some time. Bob 05:54, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
