Dunhill Championship

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dunhill Championship is a men's professional golf tournament which is played in South Africa. It is part of the Southern African Sunshine Tour and is one of three events in South Africa co-sanctioned by the more prestigious European Tour alongside the South African Open and the Joburg Open. It was originally the South African PGA Championship, a long established event which has been won by players such as Bobby Locke and Gary Player, and it has been part of the European Tour's schedule since 1995. The prize fund for the December 2005 event, which was part of the 2006 European Tour season, was €1 million.

The Dunhill Championship should not be confused with the Dunhill Links Championship, a much richer European Tour event with the same sponsor which is played in Scotland.
