Talk:Dublin North East (Dáil Éireann constituency)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dublin North East will be one of the baramomter constituencies in the 2007 General Election that will determine the next Government. The big battle will be between Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael for whom the national voting tide went out in 2002, particularly in Dublin with just two TD's elected, one on either side of the Liffey North-South divide.

Brody Sweeney topped the poll at Fine Gael's selection convention in October 2005 and has since been working full-time on the ground from his Constituency office in Raheny. In a Constituency where local issues matter a lot Fiánna Fáil have come out badly on urban planning, environment and security issues. Fiánna Fáil look set to lose one of their two seats and with a Fine Gael - Labour vote transfer pact, Labour TD Tommy Broughan's vote will hold up and strengthen the chances of Fine Gael taking one of the three seats on offer.
