Dubtitled

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"DUBTITLED" is an influential entertainment company founded by Michael "Mic" Neumann in 1999 that is most prominently known for their style of dubbing voice overs and creating the international television series, "Kung Faux", in addition to work on popular video games, and music video work with top international artists from around the world.

"DUBTITLED" has also since become a word used in the fan based lexicon of primarily Asian entertainment product like Chinese kung fu films and Japanese "Anime" to describe a video with subtitles based on the dub translation instead of a translation of the original material. Typically, dubs are translated more loosely than subtitled videos due to the requirement that the new audio track match up with the actors' voices. Thus, a dubtitle is a more liberal translation than a traditional subtitled movie would be.

The "DUBTITLED" name as a word is a result of the fusion of the two words "DUB" and "SUBTITLED", which are two words that are referenced prominently when referring to international video product for film and televsision.
