Dub is A Weapon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dub Is A Weapon is a reggae and dub band based in Brooklyn, New York. The group was formed during the summer of 2001, and has since become one of the most highly regarded dub bands in the United States.
The band is lead by dub engineer Dave Hahn, who is best known for his work with Easy Star All-Star's "Dub Side of the Moon" live show and as a guitarist with Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra. The group also features Jamaican percussion legend Larry McDonald, who has performed with Gil Scott-Heron, Taj Mahal, Peter Tosh, and Bob Marley.
They have firmly established themselves at underground Brooklyn venues such as the Afrospot Temple. Aggressively touring the country with over 70 appearances in 2004 alone, Village Voice described the band's style as "drums and bass coming so hard and dangerous you can see the competition's bloodstains."
The groups continues to tour extensively throughout the United States, currently working the legendary dub innovator Lee 'Scratch' Perry during his visits to the United States. The group also had the distinct honor of performing at the recently closed CBGB club in NYC as part of the club's Farewell Festival.
