Dualchas Building Design
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Dualchas Building Design group is an architecture practice based on the Isle of Skye in the Highlands of Scotland. Dualchas Building Design took the traditional vernacular house designs of the Highlands, such as the black house and long house, as their inspiration for modern designs of similar proportions but with open plan spaces, double-height living rooms and large areas of glazing.
The practice has been seen by some as being responsible for the return to this type of vernacular design to the Highlands.
Dualchas Building Design has now spawned a spin-off company, Hebridean Contemporary Homes, which produces a range of the designs as 'kit' house packages.
