[edit] Cousins?

In the William McIntosh article, what is your source for McIntosh and William Weatherford being cousins? I am not sure this is correct.

Please reply here or on my talk page. -- Rob C (Alarob) 16:37, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for getting in touch; I'll reply by email (and have removed your email address from my talk page -- so spambots won't find it!) -- Rob C (Alarob) 15:38, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

I've looked at the document you sent. The source for the kinship between the two Billys (McIntosh and Weatherford) does not seem reliable enough for an encyclopedia article. Also, note that even if McGillivray were considered an "uncle" to both boys by Creek standards, that would not make him an "uncle" as the word is usually used in English. The Creeks reckoned kinship through maternal clans, not as we do. (Charles Hudson has a detailed discussion of Creek kinship terms in his book The Southeastern Indians.)

What is the source/sources for the information you sent me? -- Rob C (Alarob) 03:19, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

P.S. I finally fixed the email link on my talk page.... -- Rob C (Alarob)
