Nowadays you'll mostly sparsely find me on WP:FPC where I'm not putting discussions on my watchlist anymore to keep that thermometer down :-).

I live in Göttingen, Germany. Currently I'm working on my ph.D. in Physics at the "Georg-August-Universität". My other interests include

I'm currently working on a Javascript plugin to embed a GoogleMaps like draggable map in geocoded Wikipedia articles (see screenshot to the right). Installation instructions for the brave. --Dschwen 12:14, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

The map now uses AJAX to display markers with WikiLinks to other geocoded articles. This means you can now browse Wikipedia spatially :-). --Dschwen 10:03, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Google Maps MediaWiki extension

Check out this page for a demo of my new GMap Google Maps extension.

This extension lets you embed an arbitrary amount of fully interactive Google Maps objects into your wikipages. The mapcontrols appear when you move the mouse over the map, and disappear when you leave it. A helper widget is available wich outputs current coordinates and zoom-level on click, making it easy to choose a map locaton to display.
