[edit] Overview

[edit] Background

Dry Kill Logic, which at the time was called Hinge, formed in 1993. In 1997, the band recorded and released its first EP titled Cause Moshing is Good Fun under Psychodrama Records, the band's own label.

The band's second EP, Elemental Evil (1999) once again through Psychodrama Records. The nine-track disc led them to open for many well-recognized acts including Coal Chamber, Incubus, Anthrax, and System of a Down.

Dry Kill Logic was signed to the popular metal label Roadrunner Records in 2001 after writing and recording their album with Eddie Wohl and Rob Caggiano of Scrap 60 Productions in 2000.[1] The band's 2001 full-length debut, The Darker Side of Nonsense, was released on June 5, and was instantly recognized as a critically acclaimed release from a disctint band with a unique sound. The band spent the better part of 2001 and 2002 on tour, performing around the world with such bands as Fear Factory, Kittie, Ill Nino, Spineshank, Saliva, Slayer and many others. The record spent five weeks as #1 at Metal Radio, spawned the hit song "Rot" and along with giving 110% onstage every night on stage the band solidified their fan base, playing over 400 shows in two years in support of the record. With little label and radio support, The Darker Side of Nonsense went on to sell approximately 100,000 copies.[2] However, due to Roadrunner wanting "a more commercial sound on the band's sophomore [second] effort", the band decided to part ways with the label in October of 2002.[3][4]

The second major release, titled The Dead and Dreaming (2004), was released via Psychodrama Music Group with deals through independent record label Repossession Records and German independent label SPV Records, thereby ensuring a simultaneous worldwide release schedule.

Another EP, The Magellan Complex (2006), was released as a lead up for the band's upcoming album. The EP includes three songs and a bonus DVD consisting of the video for "Paper Tiger", a live performance/interview piece from the Otep/AHC tour in New Orleans February 2005 as well as behind the scenes video of the band hanging out, life on the road—the fun of doing what you love and never giving up.

On September 19, 2006, Dry Kill Logic's latest full-length album, Of Vengeance and Violence, was released worldwide via Psychodrama/Repossession, and the band embarked on successful tours of Australia and Europe in support of it to round out 2006. The band has plans for performances the U.S., Canada and Japan, as well as return trips to Europe and Australia, through 2007 and 2008.

[edit] Genre classification

The band's Roadrunner release, The Darker Side of Nonsense, is traditionally categorized under the metal genre[5], whereas the band's next 2 releases The Dead and Dreaming and Of Vengeance and Violence with new guitarist Jason Bozzi explored different metal styles.
