My name is Dennis. I'm a 38 year old divorced father of two and a California native. I've lived on the East Coast since 1977 and New York City has been my home since 1992. My interests include history and architecture, science and technology, and my family and children.
I work as a Quality Assurance manager for a stock-photo agency. And my basic duties involve working with our software/web programmers, network personel, and business developers to build and maintain our databases, online search engines, e-commerce portals, and proprietary software.
Before entering web development in 1996, I was self-employed as a general contractor remodeling apartments, restaurants, and film archives here in NYC. Prior to settling in downtown Manhattan in 1992, I spent 5 years running private yachts (of the 50'–60' variety...mostly just sport fishing). I spent time on several boats in New York Harbor and on Long Island Sound either fishing off the Hudson Canyon or cruising the harbor resorts between New York and Martha's Vineyard. My winter months were spent both on boats and on dry land in the Florida Keys or cruising the Caribbean. In between seasons I'd deliver boats between New England and Florida for boat owners and brokers.
I discovered Wikipedia while researching the procedure for a cervical spinal fusion (summer of '05). I'd known about Wiki technology for quite a while since part of my job is researching web technology but I was surprised at just how informative and how entertaining this site can be.
