[edit] Plot
When Kate's mother comes to Cleveland for Kate's birthday she takes Kate, Drew and Lisa out to dinner. Mrs. O'Brien is a tax consultant and assists Drew and Lewis in their taxes. Lewis attempts to get a tax break by becoming Oswald's legal guardian. Kate does not tell her mother that she is currently dating Jay because her mother has never approved of any of her boyfriends she has ever had. Kate has always told Jay that her mother is in an institution to prevent him from wanting to meet her. Lewis inadvertently tells Jay the truth about Kate's mother, forcing Kate to invite Jay to dinner at her mother's house. Mrs. O'Brien learns of Jay's recent divorce and worries that he is only with Kate because he is on the rebound. She worries that Jay will end up hurting Kate, and requests that Drew convince Kate to stop seeing him. When Jay has to cancel a date because of work, Kate panics and pressures him about the future of their relationship. This sudden outburst by Kate causes the two to break up. Mrs. O'Brien tells Kate that she has been overlooking the perfect boyfriend: Drew. The gang gets drunk at the Warsaw Tavern in an attempt to cheer up Kate over her break-up. Drew and Kate ride around in a taxi while drunk, talking until the car gets a flat tire. Kate tries to kiss Drew, and suggests that they might make a good couple. Drew figures that she is probably too drunk to actually want to get together with him. Lewis's plan to become Oswald's legal guardian fails when Oswald unexpectadly passes the mental competency test. When Kate is sober the next day, she apologizes to Drew, with mocking disappointment by Drew. Jay and Mrs. O'Brien come to Winfred-Louder and confront Kate about her behavior, convincing her that Jay is worthy of dating Kate.

[edit] Quotes
(Mimi walks to her desk and sees the man who looks exactly like Drew sitting at Drew's desk)
Mimi: So much crap, they had to start a second pile.
Drew: You were drunk? Oh no. What am I going to do with this ring? And I already broke up with Lisa. I told my mother. She was so happy. (Pretends to cry) How could you do this to me? I suppose the sex didn't mean anything to you either!
Kate: Drew?
Drew (still fake crying): What?!
Kate: You had so much to drink you couldn't even get your eyelids up.
Drew: Hi, Mimi. Say, anyone ever mistake you for a woman?
Mimi: I'll have you know that men find me...
Drew: Yeah, I know. They find you with the lights out, or they find you at last call, or they find you blocking the view of the woman they want to hit on.
Kate (after her mother gives her a sweater): Ooh, I hope this is the one that lands me a man!
Drew: You've finally got a guy you can take home to Mom. What's not to like? (speaking to Jay) I'd lose the earring.
Oswald: I'd take the hair down an inch.
Lewis: And how 'bout a skosh more room in those jeans?
Drew: This could work out, but you know, you'd have to be drunk all the time.
Drew: What do you think of Jay? He's a pretty nice guy, huh?
Mrs. O'Brien: Actually, he scares the life out of me.
Drew: No, Oswald's the one with the curly hair.
Kate: Kiss me.
Drew: What?!
(Kate leans in closer.)
Kate: Kiss!
Drew: Hey, you don't know what you're saying. You're drunk. And you've been throwing up.
Drew: It's okay, Kate. There'll be other guys. Of course, your mom'll hate 'em, but eventually she'll be dead.
Kate: Sorry. Just killing Mom before time gets here.
