Drew Tate

Drew Tate (born October 8, 1984 in Baytown, Texas) is the starting quarterback for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He attended the same high school, Baytown Lee, as current Hawkeyes Charles Godfrey and James Cleveland, and was coached there by his stepfather Dick Olin. Tate's nick name in elementary school was "Tater-Tot".

At a game well-attended by Iowa fans in Orlando, Florida, the Hawkeye defense played strong against the LSU offense. Tate attained fame across the state of Iowa when after trailing the entire game, LSU took their first lead with 47 seconds remaining. On the game’s final play, Tate fired a 56 yard, game-winning touchdown pass to senior Warren Holloway as time expired.
