Draughons Junior College

Draughons Junior College is a career college founded in 1879, by John F. Draughon, of Adams, Tennessee. He realized that there was a need for people to be trained in business. The initial name of the school was Draughons Practical Business College and was offered on wheels. The first permanent school was established in Nashville, Tennessee around the beginning of the 1900s. The school prospered and by the time of his death in 1921, the school had a chain of business colleges stretching across the south and western parts of the United States.

Today, Draughons Junior College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), and offers both one and two year programs in business, law enforcement, paralegal, and healthcare. Campus locations are in Tennessee at: Clarksville, Nashville, and Murfreesboro and in Kentucky at: Bowling Green and Russellville.

Draughons Junior College is owned by Daymar Colleges Group of Owensboro, Kentucky which is owned by brothers Mark and Damien Gabis. Daymar Colleges Group is a separate corporation with a campus resource center that provides support for Daymar College in Owensboro, Paducha, and Russellville,and the Draughons Junior College campuses in Tennessee and Kentucky. Daymar Colleges Group also owns Paducah Technical College.

Daymar and Draughons colleges are state-licensed in Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana and Missouri, which makes them eligible for Title IV, of the Higher Education Act.

Classes/careers offered include: Accounting, Bookkeeping, Business Management, Computer Information Technology, Criminal Justice, E-Commerce Engineer, Health Information Technology, Legal Assisting, Medical Assisting, Medical Transcription Specialist, Microsoft Support Engineer, Pharmacy Technology
