Dr. Know (guitarist)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dr. Know (born 1958) is the stage name of Gary Miller, guitarist for Bad Brains. Originally called Dr. No, Miller changed his pseudonym to avoid legal problems due to using the name of the James Bond villain.

Know was born and raised in Washington D.C., and now resides in Woodstock, N.Y., near his four children, none who have chosen to pursue musical careers. Dr. Know is now the manager of the prestigious produce market and smoothie bar called Sunfrost.

While Bad Brains are often regarded as one of punk rock's most innovative and important bands, Miller has recorded or performed very little outside the group, though he has recently performed with Mos Def's group Black Jack Johnson. [1] He also performed a solo on the Coheed and Cambria song "Time Consumer" in their first album "The Second Stage Turbine Blade". Miller is reported to have collaborated with the Deftones on Saturday Night Wrist, but it is currently unknown whether his collaboration is on the album.
