The Down-With-Imperialism Union, or DIU, was founded on October 17, 1926 by Kim Il-sung, in Huadian City, Jilin Province, China, in order to fight against Japanese imperialism and promote Marxism-Leninism. It is considered by North Korea to be the roots and foundation of its ruling party, the Workers' Party of Korea.
