[edit] Dovedale Road School

Dovedale Road Infants/Junior School is the Liverpool school at which George Harrison, John Lennon, and Lennon's lifelong pal Pete Shotton attended. It was built in the early 1900s on the edge of the Liverpool suburban district of Allerton near the ring road, Queens Drive.

In the 1950s it had a very good reputation as 'feeder' school for Liverpool Grammar Schools such as Quarry Bank High School and Liverpool Institute for Boys. In 1954 all but one of the boys in one of the top stream classes was able to gain a place in such High Schools.

At the age of 11 years John Lennon went on to Quarry Bank High School and George Harrison to the Liverpool Institute.

Recently, John Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, donated £30,000 for school refurbishments. The schoolchildren and their parents are proud of the Beatle connection, as few other schools have had such famous alumni.
