Douglas Fraser

Douglas Andrew Fraser (born December 18, 1916 in Glasgow, Scotland) is trade unionist.
Fraser's parents moved to Detroit, Michigan when he was a young boy. At 18, Fraser started work in an auto factory, where he became active in union activities.
He was president of the United Auto Workers union from 1977 to 1983. He is best known for his role in negotiating with Chrysler Corporation during their government-sponsored bailout, obtaining a greater voice for the union in corporate governance. In an unprecedented move, Chrysler Corporation named Fraser to its Board of Directors from 1980-1984.
Fraser retired from the UAW in 1983.
