Douglas Campbell (American politician)

Douglas Campbell was born in 1959 in Elmhurst, Illinois. He was the Green Party candidate for governor of Michigan in 2002 and again in 2006. He earned 25,220 votes in 2002 and 19,989 in 2006, 1% of the total each time.
Campbell earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Ohio State University in 1994. His campaigns for governor have focused on the issues of:
- Peace at home and abroad, challenging the federal government about the global problems they have caused.
- The recall of all Michigan National Guard members stationed in Iraq and Afgahnistan. Campbell believes that the war is unnecessary and should be stopped.
- Improving working conditions and establishing whistleblower protection.
- Launching a state currency in an effort to raise the state economy and GDP.
- Erecting a large number of electricity-generating wind turbines, to be owned collectively by Michigan's citizens.
- Expanding the area of "true" wilderness areas without roads or buildings by one million acres.
- Establishing a fair and suitable living for everyone.
