Doug Dohring

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Doug Dohring is owner of the Dohring Company, a marketing research firm based in Glendale, California.

Some of the websites owned by the Dohring Company include:

  • OpinionSurveys.com
  • RestaurantSurveys.com
  • SatisfactionSurveys.com

Previously, he was the owner of Digital Lightwave, the troubled Clearwater, Florida maker of fiber-optic testing equipment. The company was accused of numerous financial misdealings. In addition, he is the CEO of Neopets, having bought a majority interest in the site from Adam Powell and Donna Williams. The site was sold to Viacom on June 20, 2005, for an undisclosed sum (estimated at $160,000,000 USD)[citation needed].

Mr. Dohring was also a principal shareholder in Speedyclick.com circa 1999-2001, an organization linked with email abuse. He was quoted in a December 2005 Wired Magazine article as having "also invested in the Web-based game developer Speedyclick, which he later sold for $50 million."[1] This is a misstatement, however, as SpeedyClick itself was sold for $50 million ($3 million in cash and $47 million in ShopNow stock[2], later deemed worthless[3]), and as Mr. Dohring was not a 100% owner, his take was obviously considerably less.

Doug Dohring's son, Jason Dohring, stars as Logan Echolls in the UPN television series, Veronica Mars.

[edit] Doug Dohring and Scientology

Doug Dohring has attended the Scientology-related Hubbard College of Administration, which is an unaccredited school, which quotes him "...Mr. Hubbard's organizational concepts are always with me". [4] Mr. Dohring is an OT VI[5], which, according to Scientology, is "essentially a being able to operate free of the encumbrances of the material universe"[6].
